At Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), the new laboratories of Bioengineering have been inaugurated which will provide a service to the new degree of Biomedical Engineering and to the jobs realized by researchers of this University.

 

The laboratories entirely built by ECOFRED, are located in the Augustine Betancourt building of the Higher Polytechnic School of the UC3M at Leganés campus.

The total area of the new laboratories cover 596,3 m2 distributed in several laboratories: instrumentation (76 m2), image formation-restricted area (33,6m2), image formation-formation area (61,7 m2), cell cultures (54,4 m2), biomedical signs (61 m2) and biology teaching (72,8 m2).

The installations also include a gallery and service area (58,8 m2), a microscopy room (27,7 m2), a preparation area (23,5 m2), animal and freezing rack (18,4 m2) and data rack (8,5 m2).

In addition, a biocontainment laboratory has been created including biosafety level P2.

At a given time, ECOFRED was the only awardee of the tender for the supply of all architecture elements, furniture and equipment, osmotic water, industrial gases, electricity, data software, regulation and control, climate control and air treatment as well as fire detection and extinction system.
